Your Point of Difference v Nike’s

My Point of Difference (aka Unique Selling Proposition), to coin a rather hackneyed phrase is to live the life I want, on the terms I want, as positively as possible against all odds and certainly all critics.

The most appealing way of promoting yourself as tastefully as possible is to be offering to others what you want for yourself. The more you have solved your own life challenges revolving around your work choices, money and personal life, the more easily you will attract those who resonate with your message.

The famous track coach Bill Bowerman decided he needed lighter running shoes and eventually stumbled upon the concept of Nike’s Waffle Sole. He scratched his own itch by creating what he needed to survive and thrive and exposed millions of others to the Nike code.

Now, whatever you think of Nike or any of these companies is irrelevant as I am sure most people would want their career or profession to take such strides. Most don’t get anywhere near that level of success. The point is are you scratching your own itch or others’ itches? Have you developed your own point of difference, from which you can encourage others to do the same?

When you have solved your own problems and challenges and exposed others to the solution which has worked for you, naturally your enthusiastic, supportive nature can encourage others to do the same.

When I see any criticism of the various offers people on social media make, I mostly feel that the criticism is a waste of energy, because in these social media platforms, the people in question are simply offering the chance for others to experience the same “success” they have had in the field they love. If they are charlatans, the word will spread.

To put it another way, the genuine ones are giving people who need exactly what they needed, an opportunity to do precisely the same.

Now here is the thing! Most people only believe the worst, but that is the nature of the mind, to doubt others but not itself.

Change is frightening for most of us after all, but it need not be.
