Well, when it comes to right diet, right sleep and right work, everybody definitely should make their own rules.
There are so many generic “remedies,” for all sorts of things and every other guru telling you how you “should” live, that people have by and large lost much of their original innocence, purity and clarity. Just look at the clarity of children who, when their parents tell them to stop doing something, remind the parents they are doing the very same thing.
So it is with every other aspect of life, particularly social media forums when any Tom, Dick or Jane professes to know some secrets that others do not. Alright, some may have travelled a little further down one path than another but if that person ever tells you that THIS is how it is, be warned.
As to right diet, right sleep and right work, I have found that particularly the first two are not so hard and the third one, right work the hardest by far.
When it comes to food, any food which takes you into any kind of unconsciousness, or excitement is harmful and a disturbance. It’s not that we don’t have wine or some exciting curry or anything else, but to remember that after eating the right way, we should not feel heavy or drowsy at all. If we do, then, we should know that we are eating wrongly.
If we cannot sleep rightly, it is difficult to live rightly, because during those traditional (if we’re lucky) eight hours [of sleep] life-energy is accumulated, we are more revitalized and if you want some peace in your life, it is important to see to it that you sleep properly and enough.
Now, this is where it gets tricky, because right sleeping will be different for everybody\and the body of each person has different needs; one person can happily sleep for only 4-5 hours a night and someone else needs 8-9 hours sleep. Usually, it is natural for everybody to wake with the rising sun because the temperature rising outside will trigger the same process for most people, but not everybody, as there are always exceptions.
When it comes to right work, this may be the hardest, because not everybody can find the work that lights them up. I found that if I could sincerely LOVE what I do then the passion followed. The open secret was that you have to have the right attitude.
This saying, “do what you love and the money will follow,” is not always achievable for the vast majority, so I always advocate the latter, LOVE WHAT YOU DO. I feel it is a far superior law if you can call it that; in fact I’d go so far as to say that you learn more with this approach.
If you want to find out your rhythm, then for the first two, right diet and right sleep experiment for at least three months and for right work that will take a little longer, depending on your longing and intensity.
