Science is invaluable as far as enhancing the lives of the human beings that inhabit the planet. However once we get past survival issues, we need to look for other ways that fulfill us.
Whether people do or not is of course their choice.
Now what The Fathers of Strengths Psychology Donald Clifton and Tom Rath learned inside the Gallup organisation was that if you focus on your strengths every day and not your weaknesses it was found without question, that you were three times more likely to have an excellent quality of life. This was also reported by Simon Reynolds another very innovative and wealthy lateral business guy.
Mostly people are lacking the follow through to stay positive and fall back naturally to the lowest denominator- a negative take on life and any reference to a positive approach to life is laughed at and derided, a shame for them.
Paying attention to your core strengths every day will ensure a much more exciting and enjoyable way to operate in your career and at work than constantly focusing on your weaknesses.
These findings were arrived at through more than 50 years of research into human thought and action and if we need to be convinced then the proof is there.
The method of focusing on strengths not weaknesses can be applied to children as well to boost their self-esteem or even your own. Not only that but if you can block out a few hours every day where you can do the things that your strengths call for, your day will be enlivened and your connections too.
Cheers
